Opportunity to participate through 3 Hospitality Booster pilot projects for a free Swisstainable and Good Travel Seal certification.

In Switzerland, real sustainability has already been lived for years. In renowned rankings, Switzerland is always at the top globally, yet many guests lack awareness of this. The new sustainability strategy of Switzerland Tourism and the tourism industry aims to change this.

Sustainability should become a global competitive advantage for Swiss tourism and a real added value for guests. Many of the topics that tourists associate with sustainability are very much in line with Switzerland’s tourism strengths. As Switzerland as a tourist destination, we must use these strengths to clearly distinguish ourselves from the competition.

To this end, Switzerland Tourism, in close cooperation with the tourism industry, is launching Swisstainable, a sustainability programme in which all service providers can participate. In the programme, businesses that are committed to sustainability are awarded the Swisstainable signet.

The benefits of participating in Swisstainable bring enormous added value for the individual businesses:

Through targeted analyses, it is recognised how sustainable one’s own company currently is and what development potential exists, also in comparison to other companies. Measures for sustainable development and securing competitiveness can be defined, with direct communication also in the environment of Switzerland Tourism. Ultimately, the attractiveness of the individual business increases, both for guests and employees – it can be managed more efficiently, because sustainability pays off!

Within the framework of Swissstainable, Mr. Holger Sigmund – known for his commitment in the international context for sustainability in the tourism industry – has the vision to establish and implement the Good Travel Seal sustainability label in Switzerland.  The label is already recognised by Swissstainable as an accreditation and is Green Destinations’ 3-tier sustainability programme specifically aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Your business will be recognised for its commitment to the 4 areas of environmentally friendly management, social responsibility, local economy and health & safety.

The process of Holger Sigmund’s certification programme is divided into 3 steps:

  1. Audit and recommendation for action regarding sustainability labels and the Swisstainable sustainability programme for your business or organisation
  2. Preparing the Swisstainable Sustainability Commitment; carrying out the Swisstainable Sustainability Check; formulating the Swisstainable sustainability measures with your team; submitting the necessary documents to Switzerland Tourism
  3. Implementation of further measures to (further) develop the sustainability of your business; honest, transparent labelling of your business as a sustainable business and accompanying communication measures

For this purpose, Holger Sigmund, together with the Hospitality Booster, is looking for 3 pilot businesses, which will receive the opportunity for a free Swisstainable and Good Travel Seal certification. In the attached document you will find all the details about the programme, the services and added values for the participating pilot businesses.
