Hotels in Switzerland have a unique opportunity to support the training of a future bed bug detection dog while gaining first-hand experience with this innovative method of pest prevention. The test run is free of charge and offers a non-binding chance to witness the efficiency of a specialized detection dog live.
Why Bed Bug Detection Dogs?
- Early Detection & Cost Savings: Dogs detect bed bugs in the early stages before a visible infestation occurs. This allows hotels to take quick action and avoid high follow-up costs.
- Effective Even Under Difficult Conditions: Detection dogs can find not only live bed bugs but also their eggs—even in hard-to-reach areas such as behind baseboards or deep within upholstery.
- Sustainability & Environmental Friendliness: This method does not involve chemicals, making it a more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional extermination methods.
- Reliability: The dogs are trained according to international standards to ensure zero-error tolerance and minimize false alarms.
Participate Now – How the Test Deployment Works
Hotels can sign up for a free test run and contribute to preparing the dog for its certification. The Mövenpick Hotel Glattbrugg has already successfully conducted initial tests.
Procedure:
- A local contact person is required.
- The dog inspects approximately 8 rooms, spending 2–3 minutes per room.
- The entire test takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour.
- Important Requirement: The windows of the rooms to be tested should remain closed for 4–5 hours before the deployment.
